    Following the discovery in January 1975 by Rowland Sharwood and Mario Molina that the CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons ) released from aerosol sprays are the major culprit of ozone depletion  , countries in the world signed the world biggest treaty in 26th August 1987. The treaty known as Montreal Protocol was to completely stop the use or production of Ozone depleting substances worldwide. That was in agreement with the proposition made by  EPA i n 1986 that people and industries should start using alternatives to CFCs for ten years phase out.     Following the drastic global reduction in the use of ozone depleting substances, the ozone layer is steadily repairing itself and the UN's environmental agency has proposed that hopefully the ozone layer will be completely healed by 2060s.
